I welcome you all to this academic session on behalf of the DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL AND PRODUCTION ENGINEERING, FACULTY OF TECHNOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN.

 I especially want to congratulate our esteemed freshmen on successfully navigating the admissions process. As department committed to academic excellence, I would like to reaffirm our commitment to your moral, educational, and professional development in accordance with global best practices. We will work hard to ensure that you receive a high-quality education that will set you apart from your peers on the global stage. For our returning students, we hope the break provided you with the opportunity to take stock. I challenge you to redouble your efforts in the pursuit of your academic objectives. Although it is still in its early stages, the current administration will continue to make concerted efforts to create an environment conducive to effective teaching and learning. 

Our mission and vision are to produce value-driven and purposeful graduates who are recognized for their character and learning while also building a community based on the harmonious coexistence of staff and students. We can achieve this laudable goal if you all commit to it by concentrating on your studies, while maintaining good characters. Prioritize your academic endeavors and refrain from engaging in unwholesome practices that may jeopardize your future and, as a result, cause reputational harm to our great citadel of learning. We can make our institution the envy of all other tertiary institutions in the country and the world at large if we work together. While we wish you a fruitful and rewarding stay at the Department and the University, we are confident that your academic goals will be met.
