Medical technology is one of the pillars of an effective healthcare system, as recognized by United Nations. Biomedical Engineering training will expose students to the core tasks of medicine and how engineering skills can be used to drive exciting possibilities in healthcare delivery in Nigeria. It will exposure students to the main responsibilities of biomedical engineers and different area of specialization in the field. It will also provide a good foundation for students to pursue career in the field of biomedical engineering.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers sound training with expertise drawn across engineering and medical disciplines. The training combines sound academic work with adequate industrial exposure. Candidates who had sound knowledge of basic sciences are admitted into the undergraduate programme, while candidates are admitted into its postgraduate programmes if they had obtained first degree in an engineering or science-based programme. The Department has good facilities for teaching and research and continually engage with international partners to offer solutions to health and other related problems.
