HISTORY

The Institute of Applied Science and Technology at the University of Ibadan first mooted in 1967 was to be interdisciplinary, aimed at facilitating integration of academic studies with the industrial, social and economic needs of Nigeria, while generating technology for national, industrial and technological advancement. The institute took off in the 1972/73 session and metamorphosed into the Faculty of Technology in 1975 with four departments including the Department of Food Technology. Since then, the Faculty has undergone considerable restructuring   and now has twelve departments including the Department of Food Technology. Our department remains one of the oldest in the country till date. it continues to   offer  training up to the Ph.D. level and has contributed tremendously to the manpower needs of  Nigeria, with many of its alumni and alumnae occupying top positions in the Food and beverage industries..
