Mechanical Engineering

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest disciplines in engineering, but it is continually developing due to its applications in new areas. Mechanical engineers today acquire expertise not only in established fields such as fluid mechanics, heat transfer, machine design, and controls but also in how they can integrate basic chemistry, physics, and mathematics principles to thrilling modern fields such as nanotechnology and biotechnology. Mechanical engineering is also one of the most diverse engineering disciplines. Energy, aerospace, manufacturing, robotics, and the oil and gas industries employ our graduates. We offer a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc.), Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc.), Master of Energy Technology and Management (M.E.T.M), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Seven (7) full-time professors, as well as additional teaching and research faculty, support these programmes. Our Mechanical Engineering community offers a friendly environment for graduate and undergraduate study as well as for teamwork with business and academic partners. Excellence in research, teaching, and service are all priorities for us. Our curriculum encourages students to think critically about the ethical, moral, and social effects of engineering while encouraging entrepreneurial thinking. The mechanical engineering programme at the University of Ibadan develops the whole person to produce engineers with conscience, skill, and compassion by combining it with the breadth of the core curriculum. I urge you to educate yourself as much as possible about our programmes. Visit the research profiles on our website for our faculty. Meet the faculty and students in person by visiting the department. I am sure you will discover that Mechanical Engineering's undergraduate, graduate, and collaborative programmes provide the breadth and vision you're looking for. I urge you to think about joining this vibrant and talented community.
