Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

 The broad philosophy of the department can be summarized thus: “production of graduates in civil engineering who are nationally relevant and internationally recognizable”   

In order to achieve the objectives of the philosophy, the Department is involved in teaching, research and provision of services to the community. The curriculum has been developed to include all the core courses which are basic to the Civil Engineering profession as well as all those courses which are relevant to the practice of civil engineering in a developing country like Nigeria.

The programme is broadened by courses in mathematics, communication skills, humanities, and other engineering disciplines. Students gain a broad-based experience ranging from engineering analysis and design to laboratory testing and experimentation.

The department also encourages regular staff development and cross-fertilization of ideas between the academics and the professional engineers in industries.
