  1. THE M.Sc. INDUSTIAL & PRODUCTION ENGINEERING PROGRAMME

Our M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes are first of their kind in Nigeria and the response from prospective students has been remarkable. To date, this is one of the most sought after postgraduate degree programmes in the University.

A full description of our M.Sc. programme has core of compulsory courses, including a research project work. Students are allowed to carry out the research project work in one or two of the five major areas of specialization vis-à-vis Ergonomics/Human Factors, Production/Manufacturing, Operations Research and Engineering Management. The compulsory sources are those in Manufacturing Processes, Engineering Economics, Maintenance, Work Systems Design and Production Inventory Systems Design, The Research Project Work, and Seminar for each student.

The M.Sc. programme is informally regarded as prerequisite for our Ph.D. degree programme. A student in the Ph.D programme may be advised to take some relevant courses listed in this brochure or their equivalent in other Departments. In addition, certain basic courses in Mathematics and Computer Science may be recommended. As is the convention of the University, students with an M.Sc. degree from other Universities are first admitted into the M.Phil/Ph. D Programme before proceeding to do a Ph.D degree upon satisfactory performance.
