Procter and Gamble (P & G) Team Visits Faculty of Technology
A team from Procter and Gamble comprising Mohammed Lukman, Badmus Saheed, Ajani Foluso and Bankole Peter visited the Technical Support Unit of the Faculty of Technology, University of Ibadan on Friday, 25 October, 2013. The visit was designed to assess the ability of the TSU to fabricate tools that could be useful in the production of some of P & G’s products.
On board to welcome them were Dr. D. A. Fadare, TSU Head, Dr. O. G Akanbi, Ag. Head, Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, Mr. T. A. Olaoye of the Industrial Training and Coordinating Centre which facilitated the visit and K. K. Adeogun, Administrative Officer, Faculty of Technology.
After going round the workshops in the Technical Support Unit, members of the team expressed delight and satisfaction at the facilities on ground. They counselled on the need to perfect some of the projects carried out by students and staff with the aim of commercializing such. They informed that P & G have serious reservations about doing business with government and its agencies but what they had seen was convincing enough. They then assured that they would convey to the appropriate quarters, a graphic representation of what they saw and met on ground.
The Ag. Head, Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, Dr. O. G. Akanbi enjoined the team to ensure University of Ibadan got a favourable consideration. The Head, TSU, Dr. D. A. Fadare thanked the team for the visit and assured that the Faculty and indeed the University would live up to and strive to surpass P & G’s expectations.
